Local author and Martin Luther King 2024 Leadership Award recipient, Loverly Sheridan, is continuing on her kindness mission with her new children’s book she co-authored with her teenage son, Matthew Sroda, titled “The Bully Needs a Buddy Too.”

The children’s book is based on the themes in her recent TED talk, on using a holistic and kindness approach to empower others, especially the bullies.

The story is about a young girl who attends a new school and ends up helping the boy who bullied her when she arrived, and nobody seems to like. She uses kindness and compassion to combat his bad behaviour and helps him turn from a bully to a buddy!

The phrase, “The Bully Needs a Buddy Too” is not about excusing bad behavior or enabling bullies. Rather, it’s about addressing both the behavior itself and its underlying causes. This approach helps us to be part of the solution, not the problem.

Be a Buddy..Be Kind! This is the message that Loverly Sheridan wants to get across to others.
